Cost:

  • $10 registration fee (requested)
  • Optional $13 MAP-catered Farmhouse Lunch (arrive at 11:45am for lunch)

Specialists from the Cornell Food Venture Center will present a product development and marketing workshop focused on food safety, regulatory compliance, and supportive resources for small food manufacturers and value-added food processors in Western New York. The session is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County, Taste NY at the Western New York Welcome Center, and Cornell AgriTech’s Food Venture Center.


What does it take to get your value-added product or favorite family recipe from the farm or kitchen to the consumer? 

Visit with experts from the Cornell Food Venture Center about:

  • Cornell AgriTech Services and Resources for Small Food Manufacturers
  • Basic Food Safety Information and Practices
  • State and Federal Regulatory Requirements
  • Production Documentation Practices

Who should attend?

  • Current and potential vendors for Taste NY Stores and other markets
  • CCE Educators
  • Taste NY Managers and Staff


“Our host for this session is the Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) located at 387 Massachusetts Avenue in Buffalo,” said Molly Vigrass, manager of the Taste NY market at the Welcome Center. MAP staff are also offering an optional, modestly priced Farmhouse Lunch. Vigrass said, “The program will start promptly at 12:30 pm in the conference room at MAP. Those who want to join us for lunch should arrive by 11:45 am.” The workshop will include guided, hands-on product testing activities in MAP’s commercial kitchen. Participants are encouraged to bring samples of their products for testing, said Vigrass.


Workshop participants are also invited to take a short ride to the Western New York Welcome Center at 1999 Alvin Road on Grand Island for an Open House, Taste NY Market tour, and additional discussion from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
