Cornell Cooperative Extension in partnership with the National Arbor Day Foundation and the WNY Forest Pest Taskforce, is making 250 ‘two gallon’ potted trees available free of charge to western New York residents. The yard trees include: Red Maple, River Birch, White Oak, Red Bud and Hackberry species. The tree distribution will take place in Cazenovia Park in South Buffalo (25 Cazenovia St., Buffalo, NY 14220), follow signs to the Casino building.
The Buffalo area Tree Recovery event, a partnership between the National Arbor Day Foundation and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, targeted the Buffalo area for the tree giveaway due to the loss of many mature Ash Trees, destroyed by the Emerald Ash Borer. Additional project partners include Buffalo Olmsted Parks, the City of Buffalo, and the Buffalo Green Fund and their CommuniTree Steward Project. Corporate sponsors such as FedEx and Tru Green support the Arbor Day Foundation in these community events.
THE TREES ARE AVAILABLE ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS.
LIMIT ONE TREE PER HOUSEHOLD.
